How do I get someone released from jail? When someone is put in jail and wants to be released, they have three options. The first and least expensive option is to stay in jail until the case is resolved. The second option is to put up a cash bond for the entire bail amount. The third option is to hire a bondsman and pay a percentage of the bail bond for their service.
What do I need to do when I find out I have a loved one in jail?
Call our office as soon as possible and we will instruct you on what to do next. It does take a few hours for the individual to be booked in and see the magistrate. A release from jail can happen at any time of the day, however, depending on when the individual was arrested, he or she may have to wait several hours to see the magistrate.
What is a personal bond?
A personal bond or PR bond can only be granted by the magistrate. With a PR bond, the individual is released on their own accord, with a promise to show up for every court date and take care of the case.
What does it mean to cosign for someone's bail bond?
If you cosign for someone to get them released from jail and that person fails to show up to appear in court, you become financially liable for the whole bail amount and forfeit the surety bail amount. Total cooperation is required during the entire time the individual is out on bond. Cosigning is therefore not something to be taken lightly. In fact, if you do not feel you can make this commitment, you shouldn't consider it as an option.
Is your office open 24/7?
Yes and no. We have an agent on call 24/7 but this time is reserved for only those who need to post bail in order to be released from jail. With that being said, please call ahead and confirm someone can meet you at our office outside of normal business hours.
If you are trying to call our office to check in outside of normal business hours, please consider using the other check-in methods. Our agent might be at the jail posting a bond and be unable to answer your call as phone access is not permitted inside the jail.
What happens when I go to court?
If you have questions about court procedures or the court itself, it's best to ask your attorney. If you need court contact information, we can provide it.
